Membership Renewal and Annual Agenda

Dear Sir / Madam,

We write to you on behalf of the committee for the Wadi Kannoubine Association at this momentous time, to update you on our annual agenda and request your assistance by way of renewing your membership with the committee and whenever possible participating in our social events.

2008 proved to be a very productive year for the committee, continuing our tradition of family, social and formal events. These included:

• Annual Cabaret
• Reledev Function
• Harbour Cruise
• Christmas Picnic / BBQ
• Annual Memorial Mass
• We successfully set up our Web Site and have had a great response from this in keeping our Community in touch.
• Set up a Facebook site for The Wadi which was an even greater success.
• Various donations locally and in Lebanon.

 This year we plan to build on this and press forward with some events on our long term agenda and mission statement.

Plans are already in place for a Lebanese Community Regional Fund Raising Dinner to be held at Westella on the 15^th May 2009. This will see a joint fund raising dinner with all villages of North Lebanon and shall be an eventful evening. First of its kind, this function aims to bring together not only our community of the Wadi, but our neighbours and friends who share the same passion and ambitions to help, preserve and beautify The Wadi and North Lebanon.

We will hold our Annual Cabaret and Harbour Cruise later in the year, as well as our Christmas BBQ / Picnic.

We are proposing to sell the Community house and are actively seeking a more appropriate property that we can use for various gatherings and use for our Community.

We shall make a submission later in the year to SBS TV to run a short add on our beautiful Wadi and on our Committee here in Australia. We will seek some input from you and are looking into setting up a competition on a short film. The winner will get their clip on TV, recognition from SBS and our community. Any persons interested please contact us for some input.

We have for some time been actively pursuing various civil and community works projects in the Wadi, with the aim to raise money and fund or assist in funding of such works. This is the aim of the upcoming fund raiser dinner.

2009 will be a very busy year for our committee and all members are working hard to achieve these plus other goals. We seek the support of more members and ask that all families of  Wadi Kannoubine renew their membership and actively participate in what we have to offer. Your membership and show of support will help us immensely in achieving our goals and ensuring our sacred village gets the recognition and support it deserves from its descendants.

Cost of Membership has been set at $50 per household and we ask that membership fees be paid by the 30^th April 2009.

On the 7^th June 2009 after the 11:00am Mass at Our Lady of Lebanon, we will hold an Annual General Meeting and at which time a vote will be held to renew the committee team positions. Only fully paid members will be permitted to vote, and we invite all to become members and participate in the voting. Please show your support to your Committee, your Village and your People.
